Introducing DEG: A New Name for Trusted Compliance Engineering

DEG |

In 2025, we’ve entered a new chapter—one that reflects our evolution, our expertise, and our commitment to clarity in everything we do.

DE Group is now DEG.

Transition

This rebrand marks the culmination of over three decades of growth, diversification, and technical leadership across New Zealand’s infrastructure and energy sectors. While our name has changed, our purpose remains the same: to deliver audit-ready, standards-aligned solutions that stand up to scrutiny.

Our History

Founded in Timaru in 1991 as Design Engineering, our early services focused on steel detailing, mechanical design, welding inspection, and qualification testing. Over time, we expanded into structural engineering, non-destructive testing, and equipment inspections—covering cranes, pressure systems, electrical gear, and elevating work platforms.

Between 2007 and 2014, we added branches in Christchurch, Dunedin, and Hamilton to meet growing demand nationwide. In 2018, we acquired Survey NZ, strengthening our capabilities in ship surveys and land-based inspections. A formal restructure in 2021 created the DE Group, comprising:

  • DE Consulting Engineers & Inspection
  • DE Calibration & Compliance
  • Survey NZ

Why DEG?

The shift to DEG in 2025 reflects our commitment to a unified, recognisable identity—one that better communicates our integrated service offering and supports our clients with clarity and confidence.

We now operate through three specialised divisions:

  • DEG Consulting Engineering
  • DEG Calibration & Compliance
  • DEG Survey & Inspection

This structure allows us to deliver seamless support across engineering, inspection, calibration, and compliance—while maintaining the depth and rigour our clients expect.

What Remains Unchanged

  • Our 5-star Impac Prequal rating
  • Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17025, and ISO 9001
  • Alignment with NZ and Australian regulatory frameworks, including PECPR, the Building Act, AS/NZS standards, and IANZ accreditation

We remain deeply committed to technical defensibility, operational integrity, and plain-language communication—whether we’re supporting a producer statement, preparing for audit, or delivering field inspections.
